This a custom made mantle for an outdoor fireplace at Big Horn Country Club. We fabricated it from steel, welding and grinding all seams, then applyiing a dark patina as a finish. Photography by Greg Hoppe

Metalwork: Aluminum Fireplace Hood

This is Dinah Shore's home in Palm Springs where she lived for many years. Leonardo DiCaprio just recently bought this home for his own use. We designed, fabricated and installed a brushed aluminum hood above the fireplace and aluminum fascia below the fireplace ledge. Photography by Jeremy Groznik.

Metalwork: Ebony & Patina Steel Fireplace Surround

This house has this master bedroom, the living room and family room designed with different variation of this combination of Ebony and blue patina steel. Each area has different sizes and shapes of fireplaces, wall space and juxtapositions of these beautiful materials. The cabinet pull you see is hand made using a forge to heat the flat metal and then using a hammer and anvil to shape the custom-made pull you see here. We then stained it with a patina. Furniture: Ebony Wood & Patina Steel Media Center & Fireplace

The master bedroom entertainment wall incorporated an elevated fireplace surrounded by ebony wood and steel with a patina finish. Next to the fireplace is an ebony wood cabinet with vertical wood gran framed in steel with a hand-forged and hammered steel cabinet pull with a matching patina. Metalwork: Flowing Organic Fireplace Hood

The fireplace hood looks like it is blowing in a breeze coming through the room. In fact is a an artistically sculpted hood with a metal mantle on the bottom edge. The metal mantle is made from steel and hand-shaped and in three different dimensions so it appears to "billow with the breeze." Photography by Jeremy Groznik.

Metalwork: Carved Steel Door Pull

This contemporary door requires an equally interesting door handle that will capture the imagination of those who reach out an touch it. We hand cut and filed metal plated into the shape you see, and then stained it with a varigated-colored stained to achieve the finished look you see. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

The is a home in La MIrada in Rancho Mirage, CA. The owner wanted a very contemporary master bedroom hood with a stepped-tiered look to it, and a dark bronze patina finish. Photography by Jeremy Groznik.

Metalwork: Tuscany Distressed Wood & Metal Gate

This Tuscan estate in La Quinta, CA has a view of the mountains which is framed by this stone entry. The gate is made of wood we distress and then finished with a traditional antique stain color. We added the antiqued clavos (nail heads) to enhance the old world look. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork: Yucca and Moutainscape Gates

This customer wanted us to make a pattern on here gates showing the surround mountains and plant life. The top two levels reflect the mountain ridges and the brown and green are color matched to the surrounding Yucca plants and bark. A second gate with a different mountain and Yucca pattern, but the same colors, is around the corner. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork: Stainless Steel Shower Rod

The walnut veneer on the wall across from the shower head, kept getting splashed and discolored. We designed and made a very contemporary style shower curtain rod. that would contain all water and keep the walnut dry. We then replaced the old walnut with new veneer. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork: Vehicle Entry Gates

This entry gate originally had wood slats on the bottom half, but they caused so much wind resistance, the gate opening mechanism kept breaking. So we removed the wood from the bottom and built and welded in pickets with knuckles to match the upper half of the gate, and then repainted the whole thing. End of wind problems. Metalwork: Steel Slab Fireplace Hood

This very contemporary house was designed by architect Lance O'Donnell, owner of o2architecture, as his personal residence. It is the only LEED Platinum structure in the entire Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area). Designs to Live With provided all the cabinetry and metal for this very green, very sustainable house. Metalwork: Angled Display Wine Racks

This Big Horn Country Club house has a wine room with glass walls so guests in the living room can see the displays of the owner's wine collection on three walls. In addition to this style wine rack, there are also bottles stacked single file up the back wall. We also designed and made a huge rack to hold 1,12o bottles on the third wall. This large rack had room for unopened cases between the legs, diamond-shaped niches for standard-sized and magnum bottles, and the top was a bin style which would hold another 400 hundred bottles of wine. In addition to this style wine rack, there are also wine racks to the left that display the individual bottles at a 53 degree angle so the label is easy to read. We also designed and made a huge rack to hold 1,12o bottles on the third wall. This large rack had room for unopened cases between the legs, diamond-shaped niches for standard-sized and magnum bottles, and the top was a bin style which would hold another 400 hundred bottles of wine. Metalwork: Ten Feet High Metal Wine Rack

This Big Horn Country Club house has a wine room with glass walls so guests in the living room can see the displays of the owner's wine collection on three walls. We designed and made this huge rack in fours sectin so it would fit through the doorways. It holds 1,12o bottles. The four sections of 10' wide by 10' high wine rack has room for unopened cases on the floor between the legs, diamond-shaped niches which will fit both standard-sized and magnum bottles, and the top bin style which will hold another 400 hundred bottles of wine. In addition to this style wine rack, there are also wine racks on the opposite wall that display individual magnum bottles at a 53 degree angle so the label is easy to read. Metalwork: Large 53" Fire Bowl

This huge fire bowl is 53" in diameter. It was inspired by the famous fire bowl in the old Ocotillo Lodge on East Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, CA. After fabricating the bowl, we welded the three legs on and painted it. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

This customer wanted a contemporary stainless cable and post trellis system. We used different special Hilti epoxies made for stone, tile and stucco installations. The vines seem to like the system. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork: Metal Fireplace Hood with TV

This Big Horn house is custom designed from top to bottom. Almost every visible feature is custom made. We fabricated this huge multi-faceted fireplace hood with built-in lighting and a plasma TV Screen for a bedroom. At night a knob will turn on the lights in the hood's vertical slots. A dimmer let you select the brightness you prefer. Inside the fireplace itself an insert is reminiscent of the tall buildings in a city skyline. Photography by Jeremy Groznik.

The interior designer asked us to make a sculptural door pull for this media room door. We created an very large asymmetrical 4 feet high door pull with a variegated bronze patina for a finish. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork: Wine Room Gate

We created this traditional wine room steel gate with a design inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The design was fabricated in steel and then painted black . Inside the wine room custom made wine racks are on each side and the table for opening and tasting the wine is seen in the center back. Photography by Jeremy Groznik.

The living room fireplace of this house has metal fireplace insert we made from a long square steel rod which we heated, and then coiled and bent into the shape you see. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork: Layered Textured Entry Gates

This Palm Desert house has a front door entry with this pattern etched into clear glass. We took the glass design and re-created in in the metal gates which we layered for depth and then added texture to selected parts, and then colored accordingly. So the gates have the same pattern as the glass door, but offers a completely different experience. Photography by Greg Hoppe.

Metalwork; Distressed Metal Entry Gate

This Mediterranean estate in The Hideaway in La Quinta, CA has a gate made of steel that looks like it was made from Bamboo. The sturdy round pipes are "lashed" together where they cross over each other with a metal "lash" welded into place. The steel pipes are distress to look old and worn, and have a very distress patina of various colors applied. Photography by Greg Hoppe.
